A must for first time visitors to Kuala Lumpur. An interesting tour which unveils the beauty and charm of the old and new Kuala Lumpur – Garden City of Light. FORGOTTEN TRAILS OF KL CITY

Tour Highlights: Typical Malay village Kampung Baru, Wet Chow Kit Market, Little India, Masjid Jamek Mosque, China Town

Think of Kuala Lumpur and what comes to the mind are the Twin Towers, modern high-rise skyscrapers and the busy, modern streets of Kuala Lumpur. Let us go behind the modern high-rise skyscrapers and visit the forgotten trails of KL. Starting from a typical Malay village «Kampung Baru», let’s stroll down the streets where Malaysian style food stalls sprout like mushrooms. Marvel at the contrasting picture of traditional small Malay houses fronting this busy street, against the backdrop of the famous KL twin towers and huge skyscrapers. Stop at one of the food stalls and try some local Malay sweets or cakes. Following which, venture through the wet Chow Kit market, where housewives and hawkers haggle over prices. Chinese, Malays and Indian traders set up their poultry, beef, flowers, seafood and fruit stalls to catch a part of the action. Walk through Little India, past the Jewelry and saree shops. Visit the beautiful Masjid Jamek mosque. Then onto China Town, visit a Chinese Temple, and Indian Temple.

This tour ends with a visit to a traditional Chinese Tea House in China Town. After which the guide will bring to you to the Old China Cafe, where you can have an excellent lunch on your own, and reminisce about the forgotten trails of KL city. We drive you back to your hotel.

LITTLE INDIA HERITAGE STROLL

Tour Highlights: Vivikananda Ashram on Jalan Sambathan, Sam Kow Tong Temple, Maha Vihara Temple, Holy Rosary Church, Indian Orthodox Church, St. Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Cathedral

Depart from hotel and drive to Brickfields – or known by now as Little India. Contained within its limits in an array of iconic, mainly Indian heritage sites, colorful temples it is an excellent way to gain experience and get the insight. Visit the charming 107 years old Vivikananda Ashram on Jalan Sambathan, the Sam Kow Tong Temple where Confucianism Taoism and Buddhism houses it’s believes. Another highlight are the Maha Vihara Temple, Holy Rosary Church, the Indian Orthodox Church and St. Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Cathedral. Little India is also a great place to discover great Indian cuisine, especially South Indian meals that have a lot of savory curries, chutneys and great smelling rice in banana leaves. Our driver/guide will point out the yummy desserts sold by the Indian community and you may sample it along the tour. Don’t forget to purchase (if you like) the souvenirs such as beautiful sarong, bracelets and other gifts along the streets in Brickfields for your family and friends. Return to the Hotel in the afternoon.

PETALING STREET HERITAGE FOOD WALK

Embrace the food enriched with deep tradition and heritage in Petaling Street (Chinatown). The place where most say is the birthplace of Kuala Lumpur. What you can expect to see are heritage buildings, delicious street food hidden in nooks and unexpected alleys, and bargains.

MALAYSIAN HOME COOKING

Tour Highlights: Local Wet Market, LaZat, Home Cooking

Pick-up from the hotel early in the morning and proceed to tour the local wet market, where housewives and hawkers haggle over prices. The sight, smell and sound of the wet markets is an experience in itself. Mingle with the locals and see the day-to-day activities in the market, the Chinese, Malays and Indian traders set up their poultry, beef, flowers, seafood and fruit stalls. Here is where you could get the freshest ingredients. Transfer to Kampong Sungai Penchala to LaZat House, located at a typically contemporary Malaysian home in the suburbs, just outside Kuala Lumpur. Join us for a few hours to experience Malaysian hospitality and you’ll not only get an opportunity to enjoy home-cooked Malaysian dishes, you’ll also learn how to prepare the dishes the way they have been done for generations. A fun alternative to shopping and sightseeing!

Take the rare hands-on experience of cooking in a Malaysian home environment using traditional stone and wooden utensils in a modern kitchen. All the necessities will be provided from the cooking utensils, stove and aprons. You will cook using fresh ingredients bought from the local markets and enjoy the lunch you have prepared with the chef.

Transfer back to hotel.

KL HERITAGE TRAIL

 Tour Highlights: Masjid Jamek, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Old Post Office Building, Dataran Merdeka Kuala Lumpur, Cathedral of St Mary, Masjid India.

Tour of the historic heart of KL, covering many famous colonial-era landmark buildings clustered in a compact area surrounding Merdeka Square.

This walking tour starts and ends at the Masjid Jamek LRT Station – Masjid Jamek (the place where the history of Kuala Lumpur began, build in 1907) – Sessions Court Building – Panggung Bandaraya Building (the city theatre that was formerly the old City Hall) – Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (Kuala Lumpur City Hall) – Old High Court Building (now the Criminal High Court & Civil Sessions Court) – Sultan Abdul Samad Building (completed in 1897 using a Mahometan style also known as ‘Neo-Saracenic’ which originated from India. The architect for this lovely building was AC Norman and the State Engineer CESpooner. It was originally known as the new government Offices and housed the Public Works Department, the Survey Office, the Treasury, the Post and Telegraph Offices) – Industrial Court Building (previously housed the Loh Chow Kit Emporium which opened in 1905) – Loke Yew building (architecture is of Art Deco design) – Old Post Office Building – Dataran Merdeka Kuala Lumpur (Independence Square) – Textile Museum – The Fountain of Independence Square (It was said to be dismantled in England and assembled locally at Independence Square by Harpers as Kuala Lumpur’s first outdoor entertainment in 1897) – Merdeka Square Flagpole – Royal Selangor Club (1884, a meeting place for recreation and relaxation especially for expatriates, but from the start always had a mixture of Chinese, Indian and Malay members as well) – Cathedral of St Mary (one of the oldest Anglican churches in Kuala Lumpur) – Masjid India – return to the station to end your Kuala Lumpur Heritage Trails. Start with morning pick up from your hotel at 07.30 hours, transfer to the meeting point at MaTIC centre. Here you will be greeted by our experienced and enthusiastic guides with safety briefing and demonstration sessions. Once you’re ready, we will start the cycling tour. During this tour our local guides will take you along very striking spots in the city. The Petronas Tower, the fruit and vegetable market in Chow Kit and the Sin Sze Ya temple won’t be lacking. You will get a very good and well-informed impression of the history and culture of Kuala Lumpur. Each area conveys its own charm, character and contrast. Capture the captivating attractions of the city and embrace our well pride multi-racial society’s lifestyle, sights, sounds and the smell of Kuala Lumpur. A delightful brunch (approx. 10.15 am) is included.

Here you will be greeted by our experienced and enthusiastic guides with safety briefing and demonstration sessions. Once you’re ready, we will start the cycling tour. This evening-inspired bicycle tour is a perfect way to see the city, an authentic experience packed with adventure, colourful sights and sound of Kuala Lumpur. The locals gather on squares and they set up their food stalls. You will be amazed of the colours and smells that go with it. Off course the original Nasi Lemak should not miss, even if it’s in the evening!The beautiful architectural buildings look different at nightfall. The KLCC Tower, Kampung Bahru and the Central Market are just a small selection of the places you will visit. A typical Malaysian evening meal is included (around 6.30 pm).
